We have four Georgia Pre-K Program classes at Social Circle Primary School. The program is funded by the Georgia Lottery for Education, and participation is voluntary. Children four years of age on September 1 of the current school year, whose parents are residents, are eligible to attend. The program provides a full 6.5 hour instructional day for children and provides appropriate preschool experiences in language and literacy, math concepts, science, social studies, arts, physical development, and emotional competence.
Registration Registration takes place in February of the previous school year, but parents may register their child up until the first day of school. When all slots are filled, a waiting list is maintained for openings that may occur at a later date. Enrollment Requirements q Proof of Age (Child must be 4 years old by September 1 of current school year) o Birth Certificate or Passport q Proof of Residence o Utility Bill, Voter Registration Card or Rent Agreement q Social Security Card In addition , all children must have hearing, vision, and dental certificates (Form 3300) on file within 90 calendar days of program entry. Immunizations must be up to date within 30 calendar days of program entry (Form 3231). Families Parents and families are an integral part of the Pre-K instructional program, and parents are encouraged to strengthen their role as their child’s first and primary teacher. As a Resource Coordinator, Kathy Harris works closely with the Pre-K families. She is available to provide assistance, support, and guidance to strengthen families and to facilitate children’s social and emotional development. (A list of family events will be posted at the beginning of the school year.)
